Hello and Welcome to my auction site I have for sale a beautiful and very ornate Gold antique pocket watch. I enclose a Copy of a Professional Valuation that I have had on this watch and a certificate will be sent with the watch to the winner. Description: Height: 0.5 inches Width / Diameter: 1.75 inches Item Date: 1841. Valuation: If the movement is of lever type, this watch is valued at £400-£600 (please refer to notes below) Our expert's additional comments: This is a handsome early Victorian pocket watch. The value will to some extent depend on the type of 'escapement' used in the movement, this can be determined by looking into the side of the movement - as the image of this is quite blurred in the photograph it is difficult to be certain, however, it appears to be likely that this has a 'lever' escapement and has been valued accordingly. If the movement is of a different type, this could alter its value. Archibald Haswell is listed in "Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World" Vol.2 by Brian Loomes where he is noted as having been active between 1839-1875. An 18ct gold consular cased watch by Archibald Haswell, London, No.1722. Gilt full-plate movement with fusee and chain, the backplate signed and numbered, plain three-arm balance, silvered dial, engine-turned chapter ring with Roman numerals, the dial centre with decoratively engraved floral bouquet, case with hallmarks for London, 1841. This watch is over 170 years old !! Has a stunning pattern on the inside and it weighs 62g which is quite heavy for a pocket watch! In a brilliant condition - I have had it checked and it does work. I do offer a combined postage service so please have a look at some of the other items I have for sale just in case you fancy something else !! All of my items come from a smoke and pet free home. Please Note: Price of postage does not just include P&P, this includes the packaging material, bubble wrap where applicable, jiffy bags, taking down to the post office, diesel etc etc, so please, if you are not happy with this, then please do not bid.
