18K HOLY VIRGIN MARY AND BLUE ENAMEL PENDANT.
18K HOLY VIRGIN MARY AND BLUE ENAMEL PENDANT. This pendant has been made with the plique ` jour technique. Plique ` jour, which is French, is a technique of decoration in enameling by which the design is outlined in metal and filled in with variously colored transparent enamels but with no backing behind the enamel, so that the effect is similar to that of a stained-glass window. OBJECT: pendant COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Most probably France PERIOD : 1952 MATERIAL : 18K yellow gold STONES : blue enamel WEIGHT : 4.00 gram (2.57 dwt) SIGNATURE : Sellier ENGRAVING: IM (in ornamental) 15 Mai 1952 HALLMARKS: We think there's a little sign of a eagle's head CONDITION : Good condition REMARKS : That Mary was the virgin mother of the divine Christ is made plain in the Bible and from the beginning Christians have believed she remained virgin throughout her life, as church fathers, and councils testify. In the Roman Catholic Church it is an article of faith that God preserved Mary from the taint of 'original sin' from the first moment of her conception in her mother's womb (her 'Immaculate Conception'). Also that, without denying her natural death, at the end of her earthly life she was taken body and soul into Heaven (her Assumption). SIZE : Diameter pendant : 2.00 cm (0.79 inch) Please when referring to this piece, mention the following number: 98258-0920, or click here. Recommended retail price for this piece would be approx. $ 1,274. All the goods we sell are accompanied by the Adin authenticity certificate. These bear the signature of Elkan Wijnberg, who in addition to being CEO of Adin, is a recognised expert for the Belgian Court of Justice, as well as by The Estate Jewelers Association of America, The American Society of Jewelry Historians, and The Association of the Antique Dealers of Antwerp. All our items will be shipped to the US by express with FEDEX for only $20. An additional $3 will be added for every extra item in the same parcel. On request we can pack every item in the same parcel in its own box, but then we'll have to charge an additional $6 instead of $3 per extra item We also have to inform you that in most countries outside Europe there is an import duty to be paid by the customer on pieces that are not antique (an object is considered antique if it is 100 years or older). For information about shipping charges to other countries, please contact us. One more thing, we can unfortunately not accept personal checks. To err is human. It doesn't happen often but it can happen to us too. We reserve the right to cancel any transaction where errors have been made. Emails received over the weekend will only be dealt with on Monday.
