This is a very unique piece. I found it at a barn sale in upstate NY about 20 years ago. Many people
have looked at it, and figured it to be anyw between late 18th to later 19th century. I don't have a clue. The double edged, dagger shaped blade appears to be made from an old forged file. T are no maker's marks or stamping. The handle looks to be oak or hickory. The handle has a poured pewter bolster, the design is typical of that found on early flatware. On one side the finial is missing The blade is not pinned and comes out of the handle. T is no scabbard with this piece. ****Addition: I forgot to give a measurement. The overall length is 11", the blade is 1-1/4" wide and 6" long; including the tang, 8-3/4". Shipping is USPS, insurance is available upon request. PayPal is preferred. Thanks!!
