STARTS AT JUST $9.99 and LISTED WITH NO RESERVE PRICE! ANTIQUE THANGKA PAINTING, Central Asia, probably Tibet, possibly Nepal or Mongolia, 18th - 19th Century. The size of the painting itself, not including the frame, is 14" x 16" (36 x 40 cm). This collectible quality antique Buddhist painted scroll depicts a seated figure, possibly that of Padmasambhava, the Indian Pandit who brought Buddhism to Tibet, or possibly that of King Songtsen Gambo, the first religious king who unified Tibet and made Lhasa its capitol. Stone ground pigments were used to paint this image on a cloth backing with green background. The original silk brocade border frame was impacted with soot from butter lamps causing it to crack and dissipate over a very long period of time. The painting itself is in fairly good condition, but shows some loss of pigment. See all close up photos. A beautifully serene, early Thang-ka painting worthy of being matted and framed for the sake of posterity with museum quality, non-glare, glass. STARTS AT JUST $9.99 and IS LISTED WITHOUT A RESERVE PRICE. GOOD LUCK BIDDING. ADDENDUM: The correct international shipping rate by US Priority International Air Mail post is $49.50, not the stated $79.50 fee.
