is a wonderful very rare silver candlestick form Spanish Colonial Alms dish. The form of a chamberstick candlestick for this type of object is most unusual and rarely seen. It is composed of the chamberstick form base with a branch and acorn handle surmounted by a seven leafed (looks like it had 8 at one time) skirt for the beautifully cast Madonna and Child . The base itself has a deep well w the coins of the faithful would have been deposited. The piece measures 5 3/4 inches tall, (13.60 cm.) and has that hand crafted feel of old handmade silver. It was probably made sometime in the late 18th. or very early 19th. ct. A rare find for lovers of old silver, Spanish Colonial objects of quality, and religious images. The Madonna and Child statue reminds one of objects made in the 16th. and 17th. centuries. I have never in 35 years in business seen another one like it. This piece was appraised several years ago for $600-800. It is now being offered without reserve. Please feel free to email me if you have further questions. Thanks for your interest and your bids.
