A Great SMALL SIZE EARLY QUEEN ANNE 18th Century HANGING GAME RACK OR HERB RACK IN ORIGINAL OXIDIZED GRUNGY NATURAL SURFACE. NEW ENGLAND, CIRCA 1720-1760 IN NATIVE WHITE PINE. GREAT QUEEN ANNE STYLE SCROLLED CREST AND BOTTOM. This fine GAME RACK is in very nice condition, IT IS UNTOUCHED and retains its ORIGINAL GRUNGY SURFACE. THE TOP AND BOTTOM ARE HIGHLY SCALLOPED AND SHAPED IN TYPICAL QUEEN ANNE PERIOD DESIGNS. You see the same cut out designs on Early Queen Anne Furniture made in New England in the first half of the 18th Century. This great rack is unusually small, being only 18" wide. It still retains its FOUR (4) ORIGINAL WROUGHT IRON HOOKS. It was attached to the wall or Fireplace Surround and was used to hang "game", birds, small animals before they were cooked. It was also used to hang herbs for drying near the fireplace. No damages except for the wear and tear you would expect from an item like this over the course of nearly 300. No restoration, no repairs, PERFECT. A GREAT EARLY 18TH CENTURY GAME RACK, you do see these once in awhile but they are usually late 18th or even early 19th century. This one is Queen Anne Period, Circa 1720-1740 WITH A WONDERFUL EARLY "PIT" SAWN BACK in ORIGINAL SURFACE.
