Wonderful old 18th Century Revolutionary War Era boarding pike or spear head. It still has some of the original shaft wood inside blade handle. Great patina and oxidation. Lots of color. Tip a bit worn down but not broken. It has some wood visible that adds unique interest.I believe this pike spear head was made by Britain, rather than US made due to the bolt center that I am not certain this pike was a Colonial design. Pikes like thus often seen in wide ranging locations throughout Europe. Many local arms factories sold their ordinance to other countries including. Often, a large order would be made and sent without shafts. They would then have the ship's carpenter assemble locally made wooden shafts. Much easier to ship only the pike heads. It was likely found in the New York area or site where the British had sailing vessels. Possibly Ft. Ticonderoga, but merely a guess. It's old enough to have been made earlier than the Revolutionary War.I purchased from private collection. Very nice conversation item and collectors piece.Blade 9 inches, 15 inches total length.Inca Treasures LTDNot available for overseas shipping.See my other unique gifts, militaria, and Pre Columbian art.Revolutionary War, Civil War, pike, halberd, spear, Lance, bayonet, military, navy, army, musket, blade, knife, axe, British, English.
