Thank you for viewing my auction. I have been collecting for almost 50 years and purchased all my items from the most reputable sources but mostly at auction in London. The majority of purchases were made in the 1960's-80's when good things were available on a regular basis. It's from a set of long distance armor piercing arrows which we have. They have long slender natural cane shafts, and slender diamond section heads for penetrating Samurai composite armor. This is a type used at long range for sieges and before battles. It is designed to deliver a deadly armor piercing impact at distance. Battles were fought on opened plains, in rough terrain, by ambush and siege of the castles and forts among others. The Samurai used many types of arrows depending on the conditions and circumstances. This set had just four complete arrows and of the rest, we were able to salvage the heads only. This is one of the heads, 7 3/4" long with 1 5/8" tip. Condition is as shown.
