Description: This listing is for an 18th Century Asian Bronze of Lao Tzu mounted on a later marble base. It is a beautiful piece with a softness of features that comes only with years of exposure to the elements. There is a lovely original patina to the entire piece. Lao Tzu has serene features, with his shoulders slumped in humility, with his robes floating over his figure. In his left hand he holds a scroll in his open palm, while on his right hand he presses both thumb and forefinger together as a sign of flowing energy.The bronze is mounted carefully on a later marble base free of any flaws, allowing him the soft appearance of talking casually to the crowds while sitting on a stone wall. In it's very collectable original condition free of repairs or breaks, this is a stunning piece and a very rare find.Measurements: Width: 6" Depth: 3 1/4" Height: 6 1/2" Condition: Visually Outstanding Condition - Wear and use indicators in the form of some scratches, dirt and minor abrasions. Tiny holes have formed in non visually detracting places as the bronze has worn down. Dirty. A small circle on the top of Lao Tzu's head. Review photos for more condition information.
