Description
This is an attractive Chinese export porcelain deep plate from the 1st half of the 18th century. The plate has a remarkable decoration, which is partially incised under the glaze, the so-called Anhua design. In the center of the plate a blue flower is depicted. This flower is surrounded by an incised band of chrysanthemum flowers and two narrow diaper borders. This unique style dates from the beginning of the 18th century and is frequently found on plates from the reign of the Chinese emperor Kangxi (1662-1722). Therefore this type of plates is usually dated as Kangxi, although they can be slightly later, as is evident from plates with identical decorations which were found in the wreckage of the East Indiaman Gotheborg which foundered off the coast of Sweden in 1745. Diameter 8.5 inches (21.5 cm).

Qianlong, circa 1740. Guaranteed over 200 years old.
Condition
Good, with a 1-inch original firing crack to the rim.
