In this lot I have to offer a good example of an american colonial period burl wood snuff box. This snuff is in very good condition though it has good honest age that only comes with time and use. These are very rare to find. It would date c.1750 - 1760. These would have been used by the middle class and upper middle class. It measures just at 2 1/4 inches long X 1 1/2 inches in width. It was found in Charleston. It's small sixe would indicate the cost of snuff. This little box would have kept "the weed" moist and fresh. In polite society snuff was the only exceptable use of tobacco. The small decorative piece that is missing was most likely bone or pewter. To overseas buyers I ship priority shippng and will meet your request as to shipping. Thanks for looking.... I will be away on a buying trip this auction and will return on Monday the 11th. As always bid with confidence. If you are not completely happy with your auction winnings I will return your purchase price 100% promptly upon return of what made you unhappy .
