One of the BEST and EARLIEST American Child's Armchairs to be offered on Ebay, ever. A true SOUTHERN Pilgrim - William and Mary era, Circa 1710-1740 child's two slat armchair. This chair is from the Virginia area. It has the characteristic overlapping arms that you see on Southern Carver and Pilgrim armchairs. The turnings are also indicative of the Virginia area of the same period. For a similar example of the arms and turnings see "300 years of American Seating Furniture", by Patricia Kane, page 53 item #31 for a highchair in the collection of Yale University, also see "American Furniture" by Helen Comstock, item #20 for a southern Carver chair with similar arms and turnings. This chair, like the two referenced above is made of maple posts and ash slats, stretchers and seat rails. This great armchair is fresh to the market and the condition is very, very nice. I has no structural damage, no repairs or restorations. The seat is about 50 years old and t is evidence of a late 19th century refinish. Other than that the chair is perfect. No loss to the feet, no broken arms, mint.... This great chair is 29" tall, the seat height is 11" and the width is 19". Even the proportions of this chair are from the early period of American Furniture. SOUTHERN FURNITURE FROM THE PILGRIM - WILLIAM AND MARY PERIOD ARE EXTREMELY RARE!!
