Antique American Colonial or Revolutionary War Era Candle Lantern. Likely dating to the last half of the 18th century or the first half of the 19th century, circa 1800. Wood, tin and glass. The wooden corner posts project through the base forming feet and are pinned together with small wooden pegs. The wooden pegs on the top appear to have been replaced at one time with metal nails. Looks like the glass panel on the left side is a late 19th century replacement and this is probably when the top wooden pegs were replaced. This panel is also missing wooden trim at the bottom. The other three glass panels have wavey glass with bubbles. Domed chimney with a metal bail handle. Measures about 5 3/4" x 5 1/2" x 10 1/4" tall not including the bail handle. This is an original antique lantern of the type that are now reproduced and used today by Revolutionary War reenactors. Offered with no reserve.
