A WONDERFUL MINIATURE PIERCED TIN "PAUL REVERE" TYPE LANTERN IN GREAT OLD ORIGINAL RED PAINT WITH GREAT PATINA WITH "TWO" GLASS LENSES AND THE RARE ADDED OUTSIDE AIR VENT, New England, circa 1770-1810. EXTREMELY RARE SMALL SIZE This great lantern has the very rare feature of "TWO" hand blown original glass lenses, one in the door and the other on the opposite side. When lit the lenses project the light outward's. It also has the added rare feature of an outside air vent, this feature would help keep the candle burning without having to open up the door, it is an extremely rare feature. This great lantern along with another I had last week came from a private collection and is NEAR PERFECT. The absolute best form, great pierced decoration, perfect in construction and in nice old painted surface. It retains its original candle socket and hanging loop. The hinges are undamaged and there is no burn damage what so ever. The size is 8 1/2" tall with the loop, The base is 4" in diameter. Typical wear and imperfections with age.
