STRAIGHT FROM AN OLD COLLECTION. About two months ago we sold a full size pair of andirons that were mates to these. A MUSEUM QUALITY PAIR OF MINIATURE "HEART" DECORATED 18TH CENTURY AMERICAN WROUGHT IRON ANDIRONS OR FIREDOGS, New England, late 18th Century in great condition and wonderful old surface. One of the best pairs of American Iron Andirons I have seen in a very long time. It is museum quality and worthy of the best collection. THESE GREAT FIREDOGS OR ANDIRONS ARE IN MINIATURE SIZE. The best hand forged HEART DECORATED andirons with wonderful scrolled and shaped legs and feet as well as THE BEST KEYHOLE SHAPED TOP FINIAL. Completely original with all of its feet still intact as well as the back bar. There is great hand forging marks throughout and wonderful heat scaling. The surface is untouched and the patina is great. There is a near mate in the collection of Old Sturbridge Village, also illustrated in the last photo but these at OSV are full size. These andirons were probably made as a Wedding or Anniversary Gift or perhaps for a child and were used in the Upstairs Parlor or Master Bedroom. Although many think these are for doll houses this pair shows use in the fireplace. Only 6 1/2" tall and 5 1/2" deep. Typical wear and imperfections with age as described above.
