My wife has recently retired and is ready to part with some of her dear antique jewelry which we will be listing. She has collected for some years, is very knowledgeable about antique jewelry and has nice, nice pieces. This auction is for a very special early mourning painting on ivory dating to the late 18th century. It depicts a kneeling woman at a tombstone extending her hand which is holding a heart. Overhead a dove holds a wreath.....all symbol of mourning and loss of a loved one. The painting is crisp, clean and superb. The navette setting is beautifully engraved. Many years ago in antiquity, this piece was probably changed from a brooch to a pendant.....a beautiful pendant. It measures about 1.75" long. Just a wonderful rare over two centuries old survivor. If it could only talk..... Buyer pays shipping. Thanks and good luck.
