Magnificent Antique Chinese Qing Manchu

Woman's Full Length Robe Vest

You are bidding on an authentic antique Chinese woman's robe/vest. The magnificent embroidered silk robe/vest is calf-length. Meticulously embroidered with colorful cranes, peonies, wild orchids, butterflies, and golden Buddhist characters/emblems. All of these are auspicious symbols in the Chinese culture. The robe is black-colored silk with tan-colored silk lining. The magnificent robe/vest has condition issues, such as fraying to both front and back, with some areas you can see through the lining. Despite all the wear, the beautiful embroideries are all intact. The robe is more than 200 years old and is still full of life. The color of the embroideries are still lively. We believe that this magnificent robe/vest once belong to a Manchu woman of noble rank. The vest opens up to one side by brass loop buttons. The robe/vest has long side slits. This rare robe/vest is an authentic antique piece that needs to be framed and studied. We would not recommend it be worn nor restored in any way, as it will cause further damage. This extraordinary work of art probably took many workers and thousands of hours to make. The robe/vest was acquired from an antique dealer many years ago. Magnificent robes such as this is truly hard to find. T are many reproduced/new pieces on the market...this is not one of them. If you do see a robe/vest such as this, and in good intact- wearable condition, then i would question its authencity. T will be rare pieces that are comparable to this magnificent robe/vest. This robe is an authentic piece of the past and it will have lots of wear that comes with it. Considering that it is well over 200 years old, it is in very good condition. This robe would make a great acquisition to any Chinese textile collection, possibly museum quality. Additional photos are provided upon request.
