This unusual vintage brass travelling corkscrew is inthe shape of a bottle with a label which reads “JOHN DEWAR & SONS [DISTILLERS] LTD , OLD HIGHLAND WHISKEY, PERTH . N. B & LONDON ”, and was made to advertise and promote Dewar’s whiskey around 1900. The top unscrews allowing the corkscrew to hinge out into a slot, the top is then screwed back to form the handle. The corkscrew is in good condition with no damage to the tip or mechanism, just the odd age spot and light scratch to the metal [see photo]; measures 70mm high.
