This rare "Explorer's" Transit is engraved "J.C. Ulmer & Co. Cleveland 332" on the compass face. It has a 6 1/2" erecting telescope, and the optics are in great condition with stadia crosshairs in place. Both the 3 3/4" vertical circle and the horizontal circle read to one minute on the vernier each way. This light weight transit stands about nine inches to the top of the vertical circle, and the box measures approximately 11" x 8" x 7". All motions are smooth and turn freely. This is a complete outfit, including the original sunshade and lens cap, original extension leg tripod with wooden screw-on cap, and the original box with the maker's factory label, all in excellent working and cosmetic condition. Most of the original bronzed brass finish is intact. "Explorer's" transits are seldom encountered, and this is the only one known by this high-quality maker. I will ship to USA and Canada. Shipping costs to Canada, Alaska and Hawaii will probably be higher than my estimate.
