This is a 1900 Telephone Directory for "ALAMEDACOUNTY" which includes the towns of Oakland,Alameda, Berkeley, Haywards, Irvington, Livermore,Mission San Jobe, Niles, Pleasanton, San Leandro, and San Lorenzo. Of course, some of the smallercommunities only had one phone! It does use a logo similar to the "Bell System", but there is no mention of a "Bell System" and you may only connect with the West Coast, that is, California, Oregon,Washington, British Columbia and Mexico. Why would anyone want to call elsewhere? ( At that time there were only 6 people living in Arizona!) This book also gives you the locations of all 96 "Fire Alarm Stations". There is a page with information on "Long Distance CashSwitches". Apparently a familiar phrase in the 1900s. Itsimply means that L.D. calls from this number will be ONLY paid in cash. A messenger will be right out to collect the cash! An excellent book, well worn, but completely entact! Buyer pays $5 S&H for USA-48, USPS delivery. Email Seller for International shipping price.
