1900 quack medical device, OXYGENOR-KINGDescription : This is an old quack medical device , called the Oxygenor-King from the Oxygenor Co., Chicago U.S.A. T are three wires - black, green and red - attached to the ends and a terminal marked "M". T are two other terminals marked "W" and "S" without wires. The writing on it is: Perfected Oxygenor-King THE OXYGENOR CO. CHICAGO, U.S.A. 262714 PAT. APR. 10, 1900.
I found some references to this device on the web, which state " The "generator" exposed to a temperature ranging from 25 to 66 degrees lower than that of the body, acting as one terminal , and the two treating plates attached to the body acting as the other terminal, the body completing the circuit between the treating plates, and the flexible conductor cords to the "generator," set up a gentle, imperceptible current of animal vitality, producing a combination of Thermo-Chemico currents of generative force, which are diffused through the entire body. At the same time the nascent allotropic oxygen evolved in the "generator" by this action is conveyed to the system, and by a process known as endosmotic action the oxygen of the atmosp is caused to be absorbed by the pores of the skin, the vitality of the body restored, impurities and impure gases thrown out, and the magnetic polarity of the atoms forming the body that may be out of the normal condition, restored. " - Yeah, right! Another reference indicates that the nickel-plated copper tube is filled with a mixture of sulfur, sand and charcoal. It is certainly heavy, over 1-1/2 pounds, and measures approx. 5-1/2 inches long. The wires stretch out to nearly 12 feet long. Various views are shown in the photos at right and below.Condition : Excellent condition with no rust or other damage - see photos. The wires and straps are still quite flexible. This seems to be in almost as good of condition as the day it was made, and you could probably even use it if so desired - but I'm not guaranteeing any results! Shipping : Priority Mail shipping based on mailing weight of 2 pounds from Zip Code 80033 to U.S. addresses (ask about other locations). Multiple auction wins can be combined to save on postage.
