Holmden & Company Our Auction Item: Tiffany Studios Bronze Grapevine Inkwell This is a signed Tiffany Studios Art Nouveau Inkwell in the Grapevine pattern. Acquired 24 years ago, it was designed ca. 1900 of pierced and beaded Bronze over green and white slag glass. It measures 3-1/4" wide by 3-1/4" wide by 3-1/8" tall, including the solidly functional hinged inkwell cover, including all four rows of beading and supported on four little bun feet. No damage has befallen this handsome inkwell, and you can rest assured that it has never been altered or repaired in any way. The interior green and white slag glass panels are perfect and original to the piece, as is the original clear glass inkwell insert. Green accents peak through each unique pierced brass silhouetted design outlining grape clusters and leaves. Highly sought after, this particular Tiffany Studios Grapevine Inkwell is drop dead gorgeous. I've refrained from cleaning the few small areas of light oxidation from the rich dark patina, so that you can be assured that it is just as the discerning collector wants to find it. Into the base is stamped: TIFFANY STUDIOS 845 NEW YORK The 9-29-1984 issue of " Antique Weekly " pictured a lesser example of this inkwell (with beading removed), stating that... "it was designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany, ca. 1900 ",.. "it was offered by The Trunk Shop of Jackson, Mo. "... and was "priced at $395 during an antique show in Alton, Ill.
