Stunning Repousee Floral Theme Solid Silver Vase with original Cut Glass Liner This piece is very intricate and detailed, one flowing garland of flowers, different from each view. The hallmarks are beautifull integrated into the fine floral detailing. The silver work is fairly weighty, though extremely delicate in balance and form. The lovely glass liner has a lace-like scalloped top which gives the vase a finishing flourish. A truely great collector's piece from one of Britain's famous silver makers, Henry Matthews. Date: 1900 Maker's Mark: H W Maker: Henry Matthews, Vittoria Street, Birmingham, England Hallmarks: Anchor, Birmingham; Lion, Sterling Silver; Date Letter, a (1900) Weight: 224 grams total; 53 grams silver Condition: Mint Description: Solid Silver Vase, Pierced and with Repousse work in a floral motif with a Cut and Engraved Glass Container that sits within the Silver Vessel. Condition: Silver piercing and repousse is mint, very strong, weighty, and has no breaks or damage. The first three photos show different views around the vase's floral motif, one continuous garland, no repeats in design. The silver marks are finely integrated into the floral work, and very clear. The silver base has a few "teething" marks in one area. The silver has a lovely patina. The cut glass liner with scalloped collar is in mint condition, no cracks, chips, or nicks. The base is finely engraved with a sun burst motif, as shown in the photographs. The glass is removable for cleaning, and has a tight fit into the silver vessel. Size: Silver Vessel is 65cm tall x 75cm diameter at top and 77cm diameter at base. The Glass Vessel is 70 cm tall, 60 cm diameter at base, and 97cm diameter at top. The Total Size is 90cm tall with the glass liner inserted into the silver vessel. Provenance: This piece is a personal family heirloom purchased in London in 1900.
