Oaktree-Collectibles "Simply the Finest" Offered is a 1900s Victorian English Porcelain Viennese style covered urn or vase with the stand or base. This stunning set comes from our Scottish shipper and we are told it was probably made as a "fairing", which were items made to given away at local fairs. The set is simply stunning and would have been displayed on a mantle. Both the vase and the stand is decorated on the front with an English countryside scene featuring a man driving a herd of cattle. In the background is the town and castle with trees and greenery. The top vase piece is all one piece and has been finished in a cream color with rusty brown accents and gold gilding. It measures 11" tall and 7" from handle to handle. The base measures 7-3/4" long and stands 5-1/4". Together the two pieces stand 16" tall Both pieces are in Excellent condition with no chips, cracks or damage. T is age related crazing, wear to the gilding, and a couple of old small glaze faults on the back. "Fairings" were often mass produced and traditionally were not marked by the maker. This one is not marked but it does have the decorator's number painted on the bottom of each piece and the number 60 on the base. It is probably Staffordshire in origin.
