Oaktree-Collectibles "Simply the Finest" Offered is a 1900s Victorian English Porcelain Viennese style covered urn or vase. This stunning piece comes from our Scottish shipper and we are told it was probably made as a "fairing", which were items made to given away at local fairs. The piece is simply stunning and would have been displayed on a mantle. It is decorated on the front with an English farm scene featuring a horse-drawn farm wagon with the countryside in the background. It is all one piece and has been finished in a cream color with rusty brown accents and gold gilding. It measures 11" tall and 7" from handle to handle. It is in Excellent condition with no chips, cracks or damage. T is age related crazing, wear to the gilding, and an old glaze fault on the back. "Fairings" were often mass produced and traditionally were not marked by the maker. This one is not marked but it does have the decorator's number painted on the bottom.
