Up for bid is a very interesting item from Kentucky's past. It is a certificate that was presented in 1901. Reads " The Women's Monumental Fund " I Forgive Then" Certificate of membership in the women's monumental fund issued to ( handwritten Mrs. Lida Terry Feb. 11 1901) a contributor to the fund raised by the women of the land who admired Governor Wm. Goebel for his courage , intellect and morality , to erect a monument to his memory at Frankfort Ky. " Mrs, Edward Fennell comittee Mrs. C.C. Molehnd President and Mrs. William Cromwell Secretary. Also has a photo of Goebel with " Very Truly W. Goebel " underneath. William Goebel was assassinated shortly after the was elected Governor. This certificate measures 10 and 1/2 " by 7 and 3/4". T is some wear to a couple of edges. A tear to the top left corner. Some yellowing around the egdes. Would frame very nicely. The winning bidder is to pay postage of 3.25 , insurance is optional.
