Along with chapters on Marketing, Carving, The Table, Housekeeping, The Toilet and other household hints, this cookbook contains a vast array of recipes for delicious dishes popular at the time. Some recipes are in narrative style and some are standard style. You'll find such dishes as, Venison Stew; Lambs' Tongues; Balogna Sausage; Spanish Hash; Currant Jelly Sauce for Game or Roast Beef; Gooseberry Catsup; Fried Green Tomatoes and Onions; Parker House Rolls; Sweetened Johnny Cake; Imperial Fritters; Lemon Potato Pie; Chocolate Tarts; Wedding Fruit Cake; Hermits; Apple Tapioca Pudding; Wild Plum Preserves; Lemon Honey; Bavarian Cream; Ambrosia; Pickled Red Cabbage; Home-made vinegar; and, many more. Physical Description. This is an original. T is no dust jacket. It measures approximately 9" x 6" x 1-1/2". T are 576 pages including an index. The cover is ivory with black lettering and design on the front and on the spine. The front and back paste on end papers and first flyleafs have a lovely floral design. T is a black and white full plate opposite the title page; other than that, t are no illustrations. Condition. I consider this book to be in good condition. T are indications of age wear and use. It is intact. The pages are yellowed, stained and edge worn. The cover has held up pretty well; it shows signs of shelf wear and it could use a good cleaning. T is some cracking along the spine of the cover. Someone has pasted recipes on the back fly leafs. T is hinge cracking in the inside of the front and back covers. I see no writings or evidence of doctoring. We live in a smoke-free and pet-free environment. Terms. This item is 100% guaranteed. T is no reserve price. I prefer PayPal payments.
