1902 Union Pacific Railroad Advertising Mirror by Louis Comfort Tiffany For auction today from a wonderful estate collection in Upstate New York is this antique Union Pacific Railroad Advertising Mirror signed by Louis Comfort Tiffany Glassworks. This piece is truly rare, as only reproductions of this original piece are ever seen on the market. This mirror, as well as several others for different companies (Olympia Beer and Wells Fargo to name a few), were commissioned to be made by Tiffany Glasswork at the turn of the century. Only 200 of these mirrors were produced at that time, principally for the owners and investors of Union Pacific Railroad. The rarity of older Union Pacific Advertising, coupled with the fact that this piece was created by the most famous glassmaker in the United States , makes this mirror an amazing piece of American history. This mirror measures 14 inches by 13 inches and has been baked on to a sheet of Tiffany glass from underneath. T is a red enamel protective backing on the mirror. The image shows a large stag standing with a Union Pacific train crossing in the background. The entire image, as well as the signature of Louis Comfort Tiffany Glassworks, NY and Baker (the artist) is under glass. The glass remains in near perfect condition with very little wear or scratching and only minor chips to the edges. This piece would look terrific displayed in a vintage frame. The only other original mirror I could find was in a museum and I have never seen this piece offered for sale (except the reproductions).
