RARE 1903 ANTIQUE MISSALE ROMANUM ROMAN MISSAL RED LEATHER AND GOLD LARGE FOLIO BOOK Just in time for Easter. For auction is a rare and scarce beautiful 1903 Missale Romanum or Roman Missal that was used for the Roman Catholic Mass in Latin. The Missale Romanum is the liturgical book that contains the texts and rubrics for the celebration of the Mass in the Roman Rite of the Catholic Church. This Missale Romanum was printed in 1903. From what I can tell by the Latin, the missal was published in Italy, probably in Rome. It is a large finely bound folio hardcover red leather book with gilt page edges all around. It is highly decorative with fine red leather bound covers and a spine with extensive and elegant gilt on red leather decorations. Both rear and front covers have a beautiful gilt bordering with large gilt cross. It was produced with five raised bands as shown, seven counting the end bands. For its age, the Missal is in very good condition and has beautiful end-pages intact. It has black and red print throughout and a number of illustration. That I can tell there are no missing pages and it is complete. There are 552 numbered pages plus an additional 207 numbered pages and some pages not numbered. Page markers are in place but show use.
