A very nice copy of this EXTREMELY rare and sought after book, the First volume published in the much collected 'Lakeside Classics' series; which consists of over one hundred republished hard to find classic and western American history works in a superbly printed and handsomely bound uniform format. Every year, beginning in 1903, The Lakeside Press operated by R. R. Donnelley & Son, published these editions as Christmas gifts to their employees, stockholders, vendors and business associates. The books have never been sold direct to the public by R. R. Donnelley, so these beautiful and collectible books are only available to collectors when one of the original recipients parts with one and it becomes available on the secondary market. The color of the cloth-covering, for the boards, has changed - every 25 years. For 1903 to 1927 the books are dark-green; 1928 to 1952 they are red; 1953 to 1977 a dark-blue; 1978 to 2002 a dark-brown; starting with 2003 the books are once read more
