Both blades have excellent snap and NO damage or roughness to the edges. There is some tarnish as seen in the pictures but NO rust. The Los Angeles inscription is faint but visible. The patent number (17,566) was issued in 1903 to Ernst Kaufmann. I'm not sure exactly how old the knife it.
