This appears to be an Asprey Sterling Silver and Crystal Ink Stand. It was donated to a local charity for a silent auction and the sponsor could not get information about the item in time for the auction, so they asked me to sell it for them. I know nothing about antiques, sterling silver or inkwells. A friend of one of the sponsors provided the write-up which is included with the pictures. It reads as follows:1904 Sterling Silver Ink Stand w/ crystal ink well.Hallmarked for London, 1904 (Letter "i" - date stamp for 1904) (Panther head - London)Maker mark "CAGA " - Charles Asprey George AspreyAsprey was/is one of the finest jewelers/silversmiths in London/World, on par with Tiffany, Cartier, etc.Asprey are also jewelers to the Crown, and have supplied jewels, objects, etc. to the British Royal Family for over 150 years.Asprey items are considered among the best and of the highest quality.A similar ink stand by Asprey c. 1910 sold recently at auction in the UK for approx. E450/approx. $750/US.The item is not in pristine condition. It is not dented and the glass appears to be intact, although there is some scratching/chipping where the ink well inserts into the stand. You cannot see the scratched glass when it is inserted into the stand. However, the stand appears to have been polished and is somewhat scratched from the polishing efforts. read more
