Offered for a 7-Day, NO RESERVE auction is this absolutely superb vase by The Rookwood Pottery Company, in their exquisite "Iris" glaze. This particular glaze, which evolved from their "Cameo" line, is one of the best glazes that Rookwood produced. The color, high-gloss brilliance and artistry of this vase is absolutely outstanding, so if you collect this Rookwood line, or early American Art Pottery in general, then this is the vase for you! Truthfully, the photos just do not do this piece justice as it is even more brilliant in person. This superb example of Rookwood Pottery in their renowned "Iris" glaze stands a full 6.5" tall, and is appx. 4.75" wide through the shoulder area. The top, rolled-edge opening is just shy of 2.75" in diameter while the glazed, slightly footed base is 2.25" in diameter. This Rookwood vase is in excellent original condition , and t are no chips, cracks, hairlines, repairs and/or retouches on this piece whatsoever. The only two items of note are some clear crazing (common to this line) and a "stilt indentation" on the lower edge that is essentially non-visible when the vase is upright.
