* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * United States Army Navy Military Issue Pith Helmet or Hot Weather Helmet with durable olive colored canvas fabric over vented molded shell, features adjustable brown leather interior lace-up headband firmly secured by sturdy metal brackets and detachable/adjustable heavy canvas chin-strap held in place via small metal swivel hooks. Black stamp on interior reads: USN CONT. N140-G2236s -1904, with final four digits presumably representing date. Helmet is in great structural condition with all components intact and fully functional. Shows predictable signs of use and wear commensurate with age, and some old discolored water marks are present on brim -- more pronounced on posterior underside -- that do nothing to detract from the overall appearance and would likely respond well to professional cleaning or any number of household stain removal agents, should one opt to refurbish.
