This is an excellent 104 year old Western Electric Company brass phone receiver. It is marked Western Electric Company and Pat Appd for Pat in USA AUG 16 04 Sept 13 04. It measures 11-1/2" tall and the base is 5" around. It is tarnished but would polish up nicely. The mouth piece pivots up and down. Imagine the excitement this phone must of brought when first bought. In 1904 Theodore Roosevelt was the president. Women still couldn't vote in the United States and would not until 1920. The first airplane flight took place in 1903, but it would be many years before airplanes were common. Even cars were still a newfangled invention, and not many people had them. The first World Series was played in 1903. (Boston won.) This phone was probably the envy of the neighborhood if not the town! Thanks for looking!
