1905 ERA CONAN DOYLE SHERLOCK HOLMES SCARLET SIGN OF 4 Description: Offered is an unusual "Three Owls" edition of Tales of Sherlock Holmes, Detective Stories, by Sir A. Conan Doyle, published by W.R. Caldwell & Co., New York. No date, but approx. 1905 to 1915, that time period. Contains both full length works, The Sign of the Four and A Study in Scarlet, as well as some of the short stories in the Sherlock Holmes canon, including the Red Headed League, A Scandal in Bohemia and A Case of Identity. 359 pages, bound in embossed purple cloth with titles in gilt and black, 8x5 inches. Illustrated with full page prints of William Gillette as Sherlock Holmes, from the first major stage version. Great condition, part of a series titled International Adventure Library.
