1905 Portland Lewis & Clark Sterling Souvenir Spoon
After twenty-five years of selling antiques, collectibles and ephemera, I'm anxious to retire but my wife won't let me until I somehow manage to empty our basement . That's a daunting task given the quantities involved and particularly so, since much of this stuff hasn't seen the light of day for years.
This sterling souvenir spoon from the 1905 Lewis & Clark Exposition in Portland is a perfect example. The bowl features the Official Seal of the Centennial in high relief. The stem is decorated with flowers front and back. The maker's mark is that of the Shepard Manufacturing Company. Length of this spoon is 5-3/16 inches and weight is .53 ounces.
This spoon is in excellent condition although there's a very slight crease across the reverse of the bowl where it's tweaked just a bit. This is not at all apparent from the front.
