This is a patent date 1906, antique Bausch and Lomb, Rochester, New York complete surveyors set: transit; tri-pod; brass plumb bob on chain and string; extra lens extension, marked compass and original wood case. This is a very good quality unit with lots of brass, much of it painted, but could be stripped, components. The tri-pod also has brass points on the bottom and brass screw mount. This unit was formerly owned by Warren Petroleum, Tulsa, OK and has a Warren tag in the box. The brass on the unit is somewhat age tarnished, especially the tri-pod. Glass on the compass and 4 level bubbles is good. Optics on the unit are fair and the transit probably needs to be cleaned. As stated the transit has quite a bit of brass, but much of it has been overpainted in black. The transit has quite a bit of chipping black paint in certain areas. One of the degree setting plastic shields is broken off. The wood case has an 1950's inspection tag and is pretty worn finish wise. The leather carrying strap is also very aged and dried out.
