1906-D $5 MS66 NGC. The 1906-D half eagle, with a mintage of 320,000 pieces is an available issue in lower Mint State grades, but Premium Gems such as the present piece are elusive. This specimen is one of only a dozen so graded at NGC, a richly frosted yellow-gold survivor that is free of most distracting abrasions, save for a tiny mark on Liberty's chin. This piece boasts an excellent strike save for the extreme high points, and this coin's originality adds to a long list of positive attributes. Census: 12 in 66, 0 finer (3/11). Grade: 66, Service: NGC, Service No.: 8414, Issue Date: 1906-D, Mint Mark: D, Denomination: $5
