This is an extremely interesting original "Souvenir Letter of a Trip to the Beaches Near Los Angeles, California" an unusual type of "Post Card", which is really designed as a booklet of photo illustrations, staple bound in paper covers, and mailed to a Mr. C. H. Pierce at Playa Del Rey, California, postmarked July 27, 1906....the booklet was made by the NEWMAN POST CARD COMPANY OF LOS ANGELES, and contains a letter written on the insides of the front and back covers, which reads as follows: July 26th, 1906 Dear Sir, I want to tell you, that I enjoyed the trip to the beaches immensely, & that when you say, that your pleasure trip is worth $10.00-, you are more than right, as for the dollar, I paid, I spent by far the most delightful day, I have had for a long time. I liked especially the stop at Playa del Rey, yours truly, A Balloon route Excursionist....apparently the gentleman was travelling by Balloon for a portion of his trip, or at any rate took a Balloon ride at some point in his travels...the booklet is really quite nice, with an Art Nouveau style to the format and design borders, and vignette sepiatone views on the front cover wrapper, containing eight pages of images inside, of LONG WHARF, PORT LOS ANGELES; BEACH AND BATH HOUSE AT SANTA MONICA; BATH HOUSE AT OCEAN PARK; SHIP HOTEL CABRILLO, VENICE; PLAYA DEL REY; MOONSTONE read more
