The Mistletoe was published by The Junior Class of The University of Oklahoma on June 1, 1906. I find two noted individuals in the Yearbook:Vernon Louis Parrington (Professor of English) was the founder of the Oklahoma Sooner football program--he became their first real Head Coach in 1897 and is still one of the winningest coaches in the history of University of Oklahoma's storied football program. He went on in 1928 to win the Pulitzer Prize for Historical Writing.A Senior in 1906, Herbert A. Everest was co-inventor with Harry Jennings of the folding wheelchair. Mr. Everest's senior thesis was "The Coal Fields of the South McAlester Quadrangle". He went on to become a mining engineer; after a mining accident he collaborated with Harry Jennings to design and manufacture the first folding wheelchair. Their basic design continues today to be used as a basis for the standard non-powered wheelchairs. There are many mentions of him in the Yearbook showing that he was a member of the Engineers Literary Society and the Track Team and played football. He was teased in the "We Can't Forget..." section (...how big Everest's ear's are). These Juniors had a lot of fun putting this Yearbook together with lots of fun articles and blurbs.157 pages including 13 pages of ads at the end. Interior is very solid with only minor age-discoloration. Cover read more
