100 Year old work of art 1907 ART DECO/TRAMP ART WOOD BURNT Geisha & child This piece has quite the uniqueness and history for something of its age. It is in good condition. Hand burnt even on the edges. Appears to have been stained when made. Finish is flat no gloss. NO warping. T are a couple of places that are lighter in color than the rest of the picture. Nothing that distracting (see photo). Diameter is 11 1/2" inches and 1/4" thick. In the picture is a Geisha in the center with a small child looking from behind her on her left side. She holds an umbrella with two butterflies under it. Background's strokes kind of remind me of what some tree bark looks like. Detail is exquisite . Work must have been very time consuming. On the back, wood burnt is the name and date: Blanche Swigert- Dec. 25, 1907 . Also some one gave this as a gift to someone else later. In ink, 'To Chris & Jamie from Mom' is also on back. T are no other markings. No one took credit for their hard work. I bought it at a flea market when I was younger so I've had it 20 years at least. This piece has a lot of history . I always displayed in on an old organ top. My mother always love oriental pieces and this was probably the reason I bought it. I hate to part with it but we are downsizing.
