Over the years I have sold everything from a vintage Norwegian Steamship ticket to my son's Fender Twin Reverb amp. My husband is the coin expert and the following is his description: I've been collecting coins since the late 1950's as a family hobby, and am offering this coin , my 6th for sale from my personal collection of over 40 certified US Coins. I consider myself a Numismatist and the more rare a coin (by population of a particular grade) the better. Everyone is always telling you they have a "brilliant " example of a Double Eagle, but in this case it's true. Of all the hundreds of Double Eagle Libertys I've seen, the best of the reflectives in the business strike (or MS grades) are the PL (proof like), an additional designation given by NGC to the deserving few coins that qualify. The PL desgination further goes to DPL (deep proof like), and to Cameo whose higher MS grades can sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars. The PL is rare enough for my bones and still exhibits Mirror Fields. The following is my honest and well over done appriasal of the coin. FOR SALE: a 1907 Liberty $20 Gold Double Eagle Certified By NGC as MS 62 PL DESCRIPTION: A very nice example of a last year of issue Liberty $20 Gold Piece in a very RARE PL (proof like) designation. Although this coin carries the usual nicks , nacs and bag marks of a typical MS 62, PL's above this grade are not only hard to find, but very expensive, which is why I bought this one. All the fields of this coin are Mirror like and the strike has to be bold and resemble a Proof to catch this designation. Both Obverse and Reverse are a Uniform ,Brilliant, yellow-gold color with no copper spotting. You can get this coin to Cameo to a certain extent and you can pick it out from a normal Liberty From many feet away. Pricing: It's hard to price this coin's value because so few 1907's make PL. The 1904 PL issue is much more common with about a 30 to 1 listings over the 1907 PL in any MS grade and the 1904 PL sell for several hundred dollars less. Since t are no history of this coin on what comes up on ebay closed listings, I can only tell you that this exact coin has only sold twice at the largest Rare Coin Auction in the last 3 years. In researching the current value I noticed the 1904's in MS 62 PL sold for $1250 to $1600 while the 1907's (same grade) sold for $1750 to $1900 in the last 2-3 years .Tfore ,I believe the listing prices to be a FAIR MARKET VALUE. PICTURES: You get the idea of the Cameo Effect from the pictures, but the high mag close-ups are a little blurry and bring out a lot of very minute bag marks that are not really noticable during normal veiwing (a typical MS 62). Believe me, the strike is Bold and Uniform in all the lettering and features or it would not make the PL designation. RETURNS: Be sure you want this coin. You can return it for any reason for a one time $20 fee to cover expenses. I must be notified before return and item must be shipped back buy the exact same method as received (including Insurance), undamaged and in the same condition as sold ,with an undamaged slab (this one has no marks or scratches over veiwing fields) paid for by the buyer for a refund. SHIPPING: Item will ship by USPS 1st class Registered Mail, Delivery confirmation, Insured for the full purchase price. PAYMENT is expected within 3 days (72hrs) after sale closes by any Pay-Pal method,and delinquent payment may result in a void sale ruling. P.S.--the NGC Registry lists a 1904 $20 PL as a population in the MS62 of 269 with 228 in a higher grade while the NGC Registry for the 1907 $20 MS62 PL is only 9 in this grade with only 1 of a higher grade!
