This auction is for an Old 1900's era Vintage hand-painted Antique Prayer Book Bible measuring 2 1/2" x 3 7/8", it has handpainted ivory or bone coverings and binding. Ts a Mother of Pearl Cross on the inside of the front Gold Embossed Cloth Cover with a Golden likeness of Jesus on it. Book lists chapters namd Feasts and Fasts, Days of Abstinence, Morning Prayers, Evening Prayers, Prayers at Mass, The Sacrament of Penance, Psalms, Holy Communion, Vesper Service, 40 hours Devotion, To Our Beloved Virgin Mary, Holy Sacrament, Devotion to the S.H.of Jesus, The Rosary of the BL.V., First Communion Day, Mass for the Dead and finally the Epistles and Gospels.The handwritten inscription in the front says"Louise Donald in rememberance of my first communion, Day April 26,1908". More inscriptions in the back ranging from 1909 to 1971 Title page states "The Key of Heaven" a collection of Approved Prayers for Catholics. The book is in Excellent shape including the clasp. This is an incredibly gorgeous book, suitable for a gift for anyone dear, or a really meaningful book for yourself. Good luck, Happy bidding.
