We buy all of our coins based upon eye appeal, not the grade on the holder or the company that assigned the grade. Keep in mind that the grade on the holder is the opinion of the independent grading company, and theirs alone. Our photographs are enlarged many times, showing imperfections that would often be invisible to the human eye. Imperfections, such as bag marks, are more evident on smaller coins, as these are greatly enlarged in our images. Since all of our photos are shot through third party grading company holders, there are instances where marks, scratches, and other artifacts appear to be on the coin when they're actually on the plastic holder. In these cases, we'll mention such in the description of the coin. We present a colorful, 1909-D $5.00 Indian Head Gold Half Eagle, graded MS63 a long time ago by PCGS. The coin is encased in the old style green holder, making it more collectable to serious coin enthusiasts . It comes with a superb strike on both sides, a perfect 'D' mint mark, and nice original mint luster. What makes this coin especially unique is that it has orange-blue-gold toning on both the obverse and reverse sides. This makes it especially pleasing to the eye. Please note that the spectacular coloring doesn't show up in our photographs so this is a case where the coin is much nicer looking in person than displayed here. The coin comes with just a few small bag marks. We know that you'll love this rare gold coin. PCGS has graded a total of only 2,390 1909-D's higher than MS63.
