's an early B.F. GOODRICH TIRES porcelain sign. 's some info about these signs from /lisanostalgia1/10stravel.html "Between 1910 and 1917, the B.F. Goodrich Company of Ohio erected road signs known as B.F. Goodrich Guideposts. These tall, round signs (which advertised Goodrich tires, of course!) gave the mileage to nearby towns and were placed on major roads at three-mile intervals. They were accompanied by the Goodrich Route Book. By 1917, t were 10,000 of these signs throughout the country. The program was discontinued during World War I." Apparantly, the smaller mileage indicators were bolted onto a base sign like this one (see photo #2). This sign has plenty of "character" with numerous chips and has a couple of dents from being hit with slugs. The original blue color is quite faded, but t are a bsolutely no repairs or touch-ups.
