I found this booklet in my mother's chest of drawers when I cleared out her house in 1980. From the pictures alone, I knew it was from early 1900s. The picture listed as #15 below gave me the date..."June 10th, 1910." My mother was four years old. I am sure my grandmother scarfed this booklet just as soon as the Bank put it out to go along with her 300+ postcard album I also found when I cleared out my mother's house. I brought the chest of drawers to my house in 1980 and this booklet has continued to vegetate in the same drawer just as it has since, I suppose, 1910. This listing is for a 4-1/2 x 3-1/2 foldout postcard type booklet. The front of the booklet says "Palestine Texas in the Heart of Fruit Belt East Texas" and shows Palestine's location on a replica of Texas along with a bountiful overflowing cornucopia. On the back "Compliments of The First National Bank, Palestine, Texas," is printed in the return address. T are lines for the sender to address the booklet and space to affix a 1-cent stamp for US or 2-cent stamp for foreign. The sender would then tape the outer edges (I am sure) to prevent it from coming open and mail it. On opening the booklet, a portfolio of pictures and information about Palestine folds out.
