In twenty five years antiquing, this could be the best piece of folk-art I've ever come across. Standing 50" long and 40" tall x 16" wide, this is a complete hand made carved & built replica of a Pennsylvania Orthodox Church, made shortly following the turn of the century, roughly 1910. (I was told that this took 6 years to complete! This rare piece was intricately carved & made using various types of wood, mostly early crates (evidence of early wording on some the backs of the painted wood). This large piece was made by a long time member of this church, and was passed down through the family. The church was sitting in a window for years, showing sun wear to half of the church, and the other side better preserved (ask for any additional photos). Inside the church shows vast number of stairs, pews, balcony & and alter! Simply stated, this piece is a beauty in every respect....a show piece! The church does has a few areas that trimming will need to be replaced, and some gluing on the inside. To this point no restoration has been done. The church will take three boxes for shipping. The church will come apart from the top to expose the inside. The pillars at the top, roof, lower-half lift off, and the carved steps will come off.
