Very rare, original ca1910 Chromolithograph Advertising Poster for Emmett Snyder's (aka. "Colonel Tiger Bill") traveling Wild West troupe known as "Tiger Bill's Wild West. This beautiful piece of American Lithographic Art features a full scale battle between Native American Indians and Western Frontier Settlers with buildings afire and the dead and wounded scattered across the ground. It measures approx. 26" x 40" plus what appear to be full, original margins (overall sheet size is 28 1/4" x 42 3/4"). This fantastic Traveling Circus / Wild West Show Poster / Advertising Sign is signed by the lithographer - the Riverside Printing Co. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin (a job printer founded in the 1860s which by the early 20th century was a well known lithographer of large outdoor advertisements for circuses, theatrical productions and on occasion, political campaigns). Wild West posters of this type are VERY RARE and seldom found in the outstanding condition exhibited by the example offered The images below do not do justice to the rich and intense colors of this amazing, early Traveling "Wild West" Show poster.

"Tiger Bill's Wild West" may not be as well known as the traveling shows of Buffalo Bill or Pawnee Bill but it toured for 24 seasons - a record second only to Buffalo Bill's Wild West which lasted 30 years ( Pawnee Bill's show lasted 23 years, and only six of the other 113 Wild West shows known to have existed lasted more than three years). The "Tiger Bill Show" originated in the 1890's and was owned by one "Doc Pike" better known as "Tiger Bill". For a number of years "Tiger Bill" and his show toured Michigan, Indiana and Ohio with a Michigan man named Dave Perriene. Pereiene bought out "Doc Pike" and at one time owned 2 Shows "Tiger Bill's Wild West" and "Bronco Joes Wild West". Sometime around 1905 Perriene sold "Tiger Bill's to Emett Snyder, forever after known as âeoeColonel Tiger Billâe. The Show traveled to Kentucky and as far south and west as Texas. In 1909 Col. Tiger Bill teamed up with legendary Circus Owner and Animal Trainer Colonel George W. Hall better known as "Popcorn Hall". This incarnation of "Tiger Bill's Wild West" offered many features of a traveling circus and menagerie and a consummate Wild West Show. In years to come âeoeCol. Tiger Billâe and son Leo (later known as âeoeTiger Billâe himself) traveled the United States as owners and managers of âeoeTiger Billâe~s Wild Westâe.
