This historic amphitheater was erected in 1903, and is owned and operated by the University of California, Berkeley. Ernest Clifford Peixotto Ernest Clifford Peixotto (1869-1940) was a native of San Francisco, California, prior to relocating to New York City. He was most recognized for his etchings, illustrations, murals, graphic art design, mosaics, paintings and pen sketches, as well as his realism style. His works primarily centered on architecture, landscapes, portraits, streetscapes, genre, figure, cityscapes, historical events and sites and war and military subjects.
